Well then, I signed up on a site to write a novel from start to finish in the month of November.
The actual winning process works like this:
From 12:00:01 AM, local time, November 25 until 11:59:59 PM, local time, on November 30, all participants who have written more than 50,000 words can have their winning word counts verified by our site. Uploading your novel to the Word Count Validator makes your NaNoWriMo victory official, gets you listed on our Winners Page, and routes you to the secret spot where you can collect this year's winner's certificate. It will also turn your word count bar purple.
Since I can't start writing any prose for the actual novel until the month of November, and I can't seem to write an outline to save my life, I've decided to write bits of prose spontaneously on this page to encourage myself to write more, and the first bit I write on November 1st will be the start of my novel.

- Nicole Lippert is a social worker in San Francisco, who specializes in the areas of addiction issues, harm reduction methods, and treating trauma. Nicole enjoys fancy boots (because she is shallow), poetry and literary fiction (because she is pretentious), and t-shirts with clever phrases (because of the combination of the two aforementioned characteristics). She is also really short. If you ever need to bail Nicole out of jail, it's probably because she stole fairy penguins from the Omaha Zoo. Overall, though, she thinks people are pretty darn neat when it comes down to it, and would like you to know that she really appreciates the time you took to read this bio and her blogs. Her blogs keep her sane, and she hopes you enjoy reading them as much as she enjoys writing them for you.
What kind of book? I was planning to participate myself, but I'm 40k into a current manuscript and I probably won't finish by the beginning of November. I'd rather not stop my current project and start a new one, so I'm a little torn. My current stuff is all medieval fantasy, but I'm considering working on an urban fantasy next.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with your fantasy novels, you have more guts than I do. I can't imagine writing a fantasy novel, but on the other hand I've read all of three (and enjoyed 1 thoroughly, and found the other 2 mediocre).
